Anthony Joshua Released from Hospital in Nigeria Following Fatal Car Crash

The British boxer Anthony Joshua has been discharged from hospital, officials in Lagos confirmed on Wednesday night. The athlete was involved in a car accident near Lagos on the 29th of December, a devastating event that resulted in the deaths of two of his valued colleagues.

Recovering from Minor Injuries

Joshua had been receiving medical attention while healing from his light wounds, his management team confirmed on Monday. The Lagos state commissioner for information, Gbenga Omotoso, announced via a post on X that Joshua was judged healthy enough to “recuperate at home”.

“The boxer and his mother were at the mortuary in Lagos this afternoon to pay their final respects to his two friends who passed away as they were being readied to be sent home,” Omotosho said.

Honoring the Deceased

Those who lost their lives were confirmed to be Latif Ayodele, Joshua's trainer, and Sina Ghami, a strength and conditioning coach. Omotoso added that the boxer was “heavy-hearted and overcome with emotion over the tragic loss of his two dear friends.”

The news of his discharge comes as the global fight fans shared condolences for the star in the aftermath of the devastating accident.
