Fans looking forward to the arrival of Dragon Quest 7 Reimagined won't have to wait too much longer. A exciting demo version is set to release on January 7th, providing a sizable taste into the game's beginning segments. Notably, all save data made within this demo can be carried over directly into the full game upon its February release.

Beyond Just a Simple Remake: The Complete Reimagining

This project constitutes a ground-up re-envisioning of the seminal 2000 JRPG, first released as Dragon Quest VII: Fragments of the Forgotten Past. Taking a significant departure from recent series remakes, such as the previously released HD-2D versions, this remake adopts a striking 3D aesthetic. Locales appear to evoke intricate dioramas, with characters sporting a whimsical stylized appearance.

"Taking into account the 3DS version, the main quest was remained notoriously lengthy. So we reached a conclusion that we wanted to condense the story, [and] craft an adventure for contemporary players."

Key Mechanical Improvements and Updates

Square Enix has added a host of enhancements to update the original experience. Among these are:

• Expedited Overworld Encounters: Similar to modern RPGs, low-level monsters are now defeated instantly on the overworld map without initiating a separate traditional battle sequence.
• Variable Battle Speed: Players can accelerate combat animations to quickly power through simpler encounters.
• Expanded Job Mechanics: One completely new job class was added for this remake. Furthermore, party members gain the capacity to take on a secondary job, greatly expanding customization depth.

Such refinements are designed to mitigate one of the original game's common criticisms: its considerable playtime. The original main quest could easily require more than 100 hours to finish. The reimagined edition has been expressly reworked to enhance pacing and reduce any bloat.
