World number one Aryna Sabalenka has been selected the Women's Tennis Association player of the year for a second successive year.

The 27-year-old won four tournament victories – the most on tour – which included successfully defending the US Open this past September versus Amanda Anisimova to earn her fourth career Grand Slam singles title.

A Season of Dominance

Over the course of the tour, Sabalenka played in a circuit-leading nine championship matches, with losses coming to Madison Keys in the Australian Open final at the start of the year and Coco Gauff in the French Open final.

The star player also claimed victory at the Brisbane International early in the season, the Miami Open in March, and the Madrid Open as the clay season progressed. She remained the whole season as the top-ranked player, concluding 2025 on top of the rankings for a second straight year.

In July, she became the first athlete to exceed 12,000 WTA ranking points after Serena Williams in 2015.

Record-Breaking Statistics

Sabalenka concluded the competitive year with a sixty-three to twelve win-loss record, and picked up a historic eleven million pounds in prize money.

She garnered almost 80% of the votes submitted by global tennis journalists.

Later this month, she is scheduled to face 2022 Wimbledon finalist Nick Kyrgios in a high-profile mixed-gender exhibition match with the aim of "help bring women's tennis to a new level".

Additional WTA Award Recipients

• Returning Star of the Year: Switzerland's Belinda Bencic, twenty-eight, received the award after taking 13-month break after the arrival of her first child and returning to the sport earlier this season.
• Newcomer of the Year: Canadian teenager Victoria Mboko was honored with the award after beginning the season ranked beyond the world's top 300 and rising to the eighteenth spot.
• Doubles Team of the Year: Katerina Siniakova and Taylor Townsend were selected after capturing their second career Grand Slam title as a pair.
• Biggest Leap of the Year: Amanda Anisimova was named after reaching five championship matches.

Last week, Carlos Alcaraz secured three awards in the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) Awards, including the season-ending top rank award, while Jannik Sinner was chosen as the fan favorite for a third time.
