Tributes Pour In for the Reiners as Autopsy Reports Face a Security Hold.
Well beyond 14 days subsequent to the heartbreaking passing of renowned film director Rob Reiner and his wife, photographer Michele Reiner, friends and colleagues are still paying respects to the couple.
‘Life is Pain Without You’: Cary Elwes Recalls His Director
Sharing on Instagram, actor Cary Elwes, who was featured in Reiner's iconic movie *The Princess Bride*, explained he only now felt prepared to express about his deep grief.
"Sufficient time has passed that I can now articulate my loss into words," wrote Elwes, noting that his initial encounter with Reiner left him smitten. "Once we started sharing more moments together I knew this was someone I desired in my life."
The actor uploaded never-before-seen clips from the production, remarking that he cannot recall "one day without mirth".
"The film is about devotion, fidelity and selflessness. Principles that Rob valued immensely. That is part of the many reasons he was the best person to helm it," Elwes continued.
He also paid tribute Michele Reiner, noting: "Asserting that they were a formidable pair would be an understatement. My heart still aches every time I think of you." He ended with a line from *The Princess Bride*: "Indeed, death cannot stop true love but living is anguish without you."
Martin Scorsese Remembers a Colleague and Comrade
In a different essay, revered director Martin Scorsese shared memories of Reiner, whom he initially encountered in the 1970s.
"Right away, I loved spending time with Rob. We had a natural affinity for each other. He was uproarious and sometimes sharply witty, but he was never the kind of guy who would dominate the room," Scorsese said.
Scorsese pointed out Reiner's cameo appearance in his 2013 film *The Wolf of Wall Street*, embodying the father of the main character.
"His improvisation skills with the best. He was a expert at comedy, he worked seamlessly with his co-stars, and he understood the emotional dilemma of his character," Scorsese added.
Court Proceedings: Autopsy Reports Restricted
Recently, a Los Angeles superior court judge decided to block the publication of the Reiners' autopsy reports, at the request from the Los Angeles Police Department.
A court order issued a restriction on the files to limit the public release of "all case details, notes, reports or photos" associated with the ongoing investigation.
The coroner's office had previously confirmed their deaths were the result of foul play, with a official listing noting the cause as "multiple sharp force injuries".
Fallout and Commentary
In the wake of the killings, public figures shared divergent comments.
Ex-President Donald Trump wrote on the matter, providing divisive remarks that were widely condemned by numerous commentators.
Podcaster Joe Rogan contributed his voice to the those speaking out recently. Speaking on his program, Rogan labeled the remarks as "disturbing" and remarked they revealed a worrisome lack of empathy.
Rogan ended by suggesting that an aide could have intervened when the decision to comment on the death was made.
